2nd NATIONAL RESEARCH CONVENTION (ANVESHAN)
With a view to encourage innovation and scientific research for the common benefit of students, educational institutions and society as a whole, Association of Indian Universities took the initiative to organize Student Research Conventions.
The conventions are organized in three phases, at the University level, Zonal level and finally at the National level. The students were required to submit their research proposals under five categories.
The three students from UBS, Reeva Paul Chaudhary, Isha Bharadwaj and Vandana Sindhal submitted proposal under the category "Social sciences and humanities".
The Research Proposals were judged by eminent personalities from various disciplines of academia and industry. The project from UBS was adjudged the best, in the category at the university level, and hence qualified for the Zone level competition.
After winning the competition at the zone level, there was participation at the National Level Competition organized by Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur Calcutta where the complete project report with the results and statistical analysis was submitted.
CII HR CONCLAVE 2009
A HR Conclave focused on 'HR Challenges in Current Economic Scenario' on 12-13 February, 2009 at Jaipur was organized. Four students from MBA (HR), 2 each from IInd Year and Ist Year represented UBS at the conclave. Three plenary sessions were conducted, chaired by eminent HR Managers and Heads from companies. The topics for the sessions were - Creating a Leadership Talent Pool, Grooming Future Leaders, Bridging the Gap between Demand and Supply, Nurturing Human Capital, Skill Development and Integrating HR Initiatives into Business DNA. The Company Heads shared the best practices of their companies regarding cost-cutting and acquiring and retaining talent.
HARVARD PROJECT for ASIAN and INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Harvard Conference held on 19th - 22nd February 2009 at Harvard University was an opportunity to stand among the students from over 40 countries together with an exposure to world's one of the best universities like Michigan, Stanford, Harvard, Oxford etc. Around 250 delegates shared their ideas and knowledge on a common platform. In total there were around 6 students from India out of them Harshit Chehal, Himanshu Jain, Nitin Burman and Varun Puri were from UBS. The conference was divided into plenary sessions, keynotes sessions and into six different workshops.
Two students from UBS, Harshit Chehal and Nitin Burman got opportunity to address everyone in the main auditorium as their groups were best in the respective workshops i.e. Economics: How Much Regulation Does a Developing Asia Need? and Security: The Transforming US-Asia Security Landscape.
IB PORT VISIT
On April 04, 2009, Students of MBA (International Business), 2008-10 Batch along with Dr. B. B. Goyal, Reader (Area of Expertise: Marketing) visited Container Freight Station (CFS) in Focal Point, Ludhiana which handles Export-Import containerized cargo and was commissioned on 9-3-1990 by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation.
